Lately I stumbled across an idea that sparked my creativity a bit again. I think it is just what I need; something to keep making some art, but with a realistic commitment for time right now. It is called Index Card a Day (ICAD) by Tammy at Daisy Yellow. The idea is to create something on a small index card everyday for all of June and July 2012, check out the link for more info.
Here are my two first cards:
June 1st 2012
June 2nd 2012
I can already tell I am going to have quite a variation in my cards at the end of all this! What I have enjoyed so far is for my first card I was into it and had the time to spend on it and that shows in the final product while for my second I really just did something to tell myself I had done it. The magic though is realizing how much I was enjoying making the second one. It took only a couple minutes, and I really didn't feel like doing any art, but I did, and when it was done, it felt good. I needed a gentle reminder of this...making art, any kind of art, feels good.
Ohhh what a nice idea! I think I will try to join you. Your first cards look very nice, I can't wait to see more. :) Have a wonderful Sunday!
ReplyDeleteYou should join in Lindsay!
DeleteI love both of your cards. The first one doesn't look like it could possibly be on an index card. I thought it was a journal page!

Thanks so much for stopping by Sharon and for your comment. Yes, I did spend quite a bit more time on the first one and did lots of layers and obviously went pretty simple for the second :) I think this is what I love most about the project, the flexibility to create what you are in the mood for.
DeleteGreat start and I know exactly how you feel in the second one. xox
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by Corrine :) I have a feeling I'll have more days like that...wonder what I'll pull out of my hat then? :)
DeleteBrilliant cards! It's going to be so fun to see what we can come up with each and every day for 61 days hey?
ReplyDeleteYour first card really speaks to me, the theme of just doing it with those words. So creatively done, I love it.

Deleteok, i ♥♥♥ BOTH of these a lot! but i have to say that reading your commentary made me FALL IN LOVE even more with the second one... b/c it's just such a brilliant illustration of the whole POINT of doing something like this! (also it totally illustrates the ETHOS of your first card, which is pretty cool, too!!!) keep going! you ARE doing it!!! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren :)
